It's been quiet on the Daily Dolan Geiman blog front, but not for lack of activity in and out of the studio. Last night we participated in our final holiday sale of the year, the annual Hideout Holiday Sale. A cozy, festive little art and craft sale, it was a great way to conclude our 2006 roster of shows. Thanks to Anastasia for all her hard work producing the event. Only blocks away from the Hideout, you can expect to see Dolan and I bar-side at the Hideout a lot more in 2007. A little drink tip from the patrons: try the Hideout special, a Wooden Leg cocktail, a mixture of fresh lemon, club soda, and rye whiskey.
On Monday evening, the Dolan Geiman crew set up shop at the Double Door for a Camel/Kaart Marketing event featuring the bands Catfish Haven and the Ms. (Special thanks to Katy Keefe of KK Shirts and Josh Miller for their assistance at the event). A free holiday show, the concert goers were also treated to free T-shirts customized with a hand-printed patch sewn on live at the event. Dolan was hired by Kaart Marketing to pre-print the T-shirts and patches and do the live sewing customization. Screenprinting and event programming ar just two of the many creative services we offer on our Artist for Hire page. Marketing and event production companies are welcome to contact us to request pricing and proposals. We also serve as creative liaisons for events and projects, connecting businesses with other freelance artists and designers.

One of a Kind Show, Michael Merck, and Lisa Geiman

Ali and I took a break from the studio last night and visited our friend Michael Merck in Bridgeport. It was nice to chat with Michael for an evening and see his latest works, including two large-scale paintings based on (1) crucifixion and (2) the fall of man. It's amazing work and well-deserving of a gallery show.
Today, I'm putting the finishing touches on all the works to be exhibited at the One of a Kind Show & Sale this weekend. In addition a selection of works posted on the available works of the website, I will be showing a couple new large paintings, two new painting series, songbird and trophy deer wall art constructions, and (of course) panel paintings. It's my last big push before a much-needed break over the holidays. My friend Josh Miller is driving from Virginia to Key West after Christmas, so I'm looking at a free ride through the South, a free place to stay, a boat, ample salt water fishing poles, and shark season. So, yes, I will be staying in Key West for the first couple weeks of January. If you need me, I'll be knee deep in red snapper.
Thinking about Christmas and home, my brother recently developed a website for my mother, Lisa Geiman, a professional watercolor artist in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Check out the site and if you find yourself driving through the valley, stop by the Lisa Geiman Studio & Shop in Fisherville ( 1761 Jefferson Highway Fishersville, VA 22939).

Dolan Geiman, Steve Keene, El Rey, and Dave Warnke

Don't miss your chance to see and purchase affordable works by myself, Steve Keene, El Rey, and Dave Warnke today and tomorrow at TAG Art Gallery's Supreme Affordable Art Summit.
"Keene is joined by three other like-minded, affordable-art-flag-wavers who have been preaching the “Art For All” mantra for some time now. Dolan Geiman hails from Chicago and recently knocked-out the Nashville crowd out during Artrageous when he brought his “Art Machine” to TAG for the one night only special event. Geiman will be in tow with his screenprint paintings that have been a hit around the world." - Nashville Area Arts - More >>

Mohop Shoes and Indie Finds Website
At the last Renegade Craft Fair, we were talking to Annie of Mohop(handmade wooden shoes) about the advertising co-op she joined, Indie Finds. It's a great idea and while they are not currently accepting new members, it's definitely a website to keep on your radar. Also while you're there, check out their holiday gift guide.
