For the past year, Dolan and I have been working on a website redevelopment to improve navigation, overall ease of use, brand identity, and the dissemination of information. We're taking our time with the process, our ideas about how we want our website to look and function constantly evolving. For example, at this time last year, we were still considering an overhaul which included e-commerce. Since then, we've decided to continue to use Etsy as our e-commerce solution.
This morning I was poking around on the web based on a few Google Alerts I received and I discovered Poketo. In addition to being quite impressed with the site's design, navigation, and use of Flickr to market and build community, I love Poketo's mission and products. Dolan and I are strong believers in business models which extend beyond the gallery exhibition-original artwork business model and develop other markets for supporting independent artists and their work. Poketo started with a handful of limited-edition artist wallets which acted as promo pieces for the exhibitions the Poketo owners were exhibiting. Low and behold, the demand for the artist wallets was so great that soon after the Poketo label was born. Today, Poketo sells artist wallets from a roster of 100+ international artists as well as a full line of artist tees and bags, stationery, and homewares.

On March 22, Poketo celebrates the launch of its new space by presenting First Editions, a show featuring limited edition letterpress and giclee prints by 25 international artists. Print editions of 50-100 made exclusively for Poketo will be available at the show.

I hadn't heard about the Poketo show - that's so cool! I really admire them as a company and think it's pretty cool how their company emerged too. Hope all's well!
