Certainly the excitement of our upcoming wedding and the significance of entering a new decade in one's life when I turned 30 this year was the major impetus for the surprise office renovation Dolan completed for me while we were in Fort Worth. But there was another source of inspiration: the mind-blowing studio renovation completed by our friend Nick Waraksa along with his partners at blend studios in Milwaukee. blend studios is a collective of 3 guys working in 2D/3D motion graphics, video production, story-boarding and sound design. Their studio is based in an old warehouse building in the vibrant Third Ward community, a hip shopping and arts district in Milwaukee and a perfect home base for their creative enterprise.This week you can tour blend studios on Apartment Therapy: Nick, Bryan & Otto's Milwaukee studio. Those of you who have previewed the office renovation photos on our Facebook fan page might recognize the similarities in the craftsmanship of my desk and the one in Nick's office. Both desks (along with the wooden shelves adorning Nick's office walls) were completed by his brother, Jordan Waraksa, a woodworker and artist also based in Milwaukee.

Nice, creative desk. Sure beats my laminated cube desk. I especially like the re-purposed parts and tubing. Was it a pain to assemble?
