Service Works Art Project Grants

Searching around the Internet for more foundations that provide direct grants to individual artists (see previous post Grants and Awards to Individual Artists), we came across a small but notable foundation in San Francisco called Service Works. Service Works was started and is directed by Josh Greene, an artist that has supplemented and self-financed art projects over the last twelve years with his job in the food industry. Based on his own experiences applying for grants for art projects and his own thinking about the process, Greene started Service Works to streamline the process and provide small grants for art projects. Each month, Greene devotes one night's worth of tips to fund an art project. Kudos to Greene for so cleverly inventing a new source for arts funding and contributing to an symbiotic creative environment in which individuals contribute to the education, growth, and implementation of each other's creative aspirations.
