Mark another pushpin on your United State maps; panel paintings have arrived in Atlanta! Starting next week, visit gallery and boutique Young Blood for assorted panel paintings and women's Rescued Clothing. Working to support the professional and economic careers of artists, Young Blood Gallery and Boutique hosts a gallery opening the first Saturday of every month, an independent art/craft market the first Thursday of every month, and regularly rotates a selection of handmade wares and independent fashion in their recently opened boutique. For those of you in Chicago, here's a couple exhibition recommendations for the weekend. Recent Milwaukee transplants Gene and Bridget of Luckystar Studio are hosting an evening-only exhibition on November 11 in their new Pilsen home/gallery. Founders of the co-op gallery M-80 in Milwaukee, Luckystar is showing works by various founding members. See the figurative metal works by Mark Winter, an artist we met back in September at the Plaza Art Fair. Mark has a hearty appetite for the found object, something we always appreciate.
On Friday evening, stop by Clothes Optional in Lakeview to see works by Joey D. and Peabe. In addition to being a great vintage clothing store, Clothes Optional hosts regular exhibitions of local and national artists. There is always music, free alcohol, and crazy store-wide discounts the opening night of the show. The Dogeaters show opens this Friday from 9pm-midnight. While you're there, check out Dolan's new men's and women's t-shirts just delivered yesterday!
