Green Team: &made Contemporary Design

Lost & Found Stools by &made Design
Now that's what we call work-appropriate office furniture! At least it would be for us here at Geiman Headquarters... Only in dreams!

Upon taking a gander at a great sustainable-design blog, Inhabitat.com, we came across the terrific and clever, clever, clever work of the UK-based design group &made (Dave Cameron and Toby Hadden).

Lost & Found Table by &made Design
Their amazing work in product, furniture, and spatial design goes well beyond the 'Lost & Found' collections we're featuring on our blog -- but these tables and stools are by far our favorite pieces. Be sure to check out their online gallery here.

Dolan has long described the work he does as based on the practice of 'upcycling' - transforming found, discarded objects bound for the dumpster into something refined or re-usable - and a similar philosophy clearly informs &made's designs as well, who produced these pieces with salvaged wood and found furniture.

Tree, Zoe Leonard, 1997 - Image c/o New Museum
Speaking of which, &made's furniture reminds us of the gorgeous art installation Tree (1997) by Zoe Leonard, which our Admin Assistant Danny fell in love with at the New Museum in New York this past summer.

Horray for art made with salvaged wood! It's good for the environment, let alone overhead expenses (wink)!

I am happy to see that some furniture designers are paying attention to what's happening to our environment, especially to our trees. Let's give them a big hurrah! And also for this blog site that features such nobel stuff. I admire you all, guys! :)
